I've never given much thought to age before....its always just been a number to me. I don't base my life around wanting to be 21 or wishing I could be 16 again....or should I hang out with this crowd because their my age, or should I hang out with this one because their not! Age has never been a big deal to me and I've never really understood the hype of turning a certain milestone. I love being 35-I love who I am, what my life story has,is and will be...and I love being around those who teach me, inspire me, and basically people that make me happy-I dont care if their ten or ninety two. Whats a number when you get so much joy out of who they are as a person?

I love my different crowds of girlfriends....my rocker friends that keep me living free and in the now, my high school girlfriends that I can talk and revert back to old times with, my work girlfriends, my every day girlfriends that I just HAVE to talk to, and my girlfriends that I have met through the love of my church that I could never live without....all makes, colors, sizes, religions,hair color, personalities and I love them all.

Some of my favorite girlfriends in the whole wide world are the ones that I just got back from Daytona with. See, this wasn't just a girl getaway to the beach-this trip was about a milestone-it was about three woman who are turning 50 and one who is 15 years away. It was an escape and remembrance of our lives. For the first time I understood what it meant to turn a certain age. I think its a feeling of accomplishment and no regret. Its about falling in love, finding yourself, raising children, being secure in your skin and most of all enjoying life. Its not a number - its a reflection.

First of all....I love weddings....LOVE LOVE LOVE them....I never get tired of going to weddings, shooting weddings or even wedding crashing.....just kidding.
I love meeting with brides and grooms and I especially love watching all the planning and details come together to create something both beautiful and memorable.

I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Jon and Kristen a month ago. When I first met Jon and Kristen they told me to meet them at their wedding site...which was the home of Jon's parents (Judy and Ken). I instantly thought an outdoor October wedding was going to be beautiful...however...I had no idea just how beautiful an outdoor wedding was capable of being until I entered a little piece of heaven that I like to call....The Hawkinson Plantation. :) Jon and Kristens wedding site-was the most beautiful place I had ever seen-thanks to the hard work of Judy and Ken. I honestly felt like I was on vacation somewhere. I wish everyone could see this place! (for all you blog readers out there a few bucks will make me talk) ha

Last Saturday I had a blast photographing Brook and Peter's wedding....The Loretto is such a romantic venue-and Brook did a stellar job on every little detail. I was so amazed on how beautiful both the wedding and reception area looked. I can only imagine the time and effort she put into everything...from designing the cake, to floral arrangements, to making sure Myron and Jackson (the two cutest little guys in the world) were fashionably dressed. I must say it was a bittersweet cold day for outdoor pics-but Peter, Brook and the entire wedding party totally pulled it off with style.

Kristy and Joe-I LOVE you both. :) I cant even begin to blog about what an amazing experience it was for Lex and I to fly to NY (then by train to NJ) to shoot THIS wedding. Joe and Kristy have an amazing story and once you learn it you will realize their true test of love.
Joe and Kristy met in Vegas. Theres nothing wrong with finding your soul mate in Vegas...other than neither one of them lived there! Joe lived in Kansas City and Kristy lived in NJ. Most people would instantly think that two people who meet like this would not last....but FIVE years later, several trips to KS and NJ in between Joe and Kristy decided it was time to get married! Kristy just moved here earlier this year from Jersey-a place that was all too familiar of home!

I never really put all the pieces together about what an experience it was for Kristy to move here from Jersey. I guess when I met her earlier this summer I just thought it was cool that she would move here for Joe....HOWEVER, the minute I stepped foot in the home that she grew up in - watching her surrounded by her family and lifelong girlfriends-I knew the day she left Jersey had to be the hardest day of her life. Im almost crying just typing this! I can not express the love Kristy's family and friends have for her, and just how much they miss her in Jersey.

I can honestly say I was so honored to be a part of this romantic day. Both Kristy and Joe looked absolutely amazing. The Park Savoy was decorated to the 9's and I have never seen so much food in my entire life! :)

I love you both so much-I know you will be blessed with a lifetime of happiness. ~ah

Jen and Toby got married at the Pilgrim Chapel in KCMO....it was one of the most intimate, romantic places I think I have ever shot at. I was so excited to shoot their wedding because I had such a fun time meeting them at their engagement session - and I just KNEW we were going to have a fun time. Jennifer looked absolutely stunning in her dress-it was hard for me to stop taking pictures of her! Not to leave Toby out...but you know it is all about the bride right? ha I think you can tell from the images below Toby looked extremely handsome as well.

Im always excited to meet new people....but when I had my first initial sit down with Lindsay and her mom Kim...I just knew I was going to have a blast with this one! Kim knows one of my besties-Kelly Murphy Boule (life coach/hypnotherapist/nutritionist) so from the get-go I just knew that anyone who crossed Kellys path I was going to L.O.V.E!
Lindsay and J have such an amazing story-one that I didnt know until the night of their reception-and honestly one that I'll never forget........Lindsay and J met at a bar that Lindsay ran into after being mugged one night away at college! YES-MUGGED! Can you even imagine? Funny how when you least expect it you find the love of your life!
Honestly there were so many great pics that it was hard for me to decide which ones to post....Im sure you can tell by looking at them the night was extremely memorable. I think my two favorite pics of the entire night are the two I posted below of Lindsay at the reception listening to her dad make a toast to her and J. I've attending a lot of weddings, but his speech was top-notch-even I had tears in my eyes.

I cant tell you just how fun this wedding was.....The Villa in Kansas City Mo is one of the coolest places to get married! I would suggest this venue to anyone thinking about getting married.
Cynthia and Herston are probably two of the most unique people I have ever met....when i found out they designed their entire wedding I was so amazed. The Invisible......

If you're like me.....I always "heard" stories about the invisible children of the world who lived in cardboard houses, who didnt have food to eat, or clean water to drink. If you're like me, the stories that you would hear touched your heart, but you never really knew HOW to make a difference, or felt like you had the TIME to make the difference. If you're like me....those children-those people...they were not a part of my small world, or my thinking process on a daily basis...if you're like me-I reached out to the homeless and hungry on special holidays because in some weird way I thought that giving a little money would eventually earn me a golden seat. If you're like me...your world can change in literally a blink of an eye.....

A few years back my husband was introduced to an organization called HeroMakers. HeroMakers is an organization that thrives on bettering the lives of womean and children who live in poverty-stricken cities of Mexico. A couple times a year he leaves the girls and I behind and travels to a small Mexican city called Reynosa. Theres no phone contact, no email, no snail mail-just time for him to reflect on his own pearls, his own personal relationships and to build new ones with the invisible children that he has grown to love so much over the years. Even though it is difficult for us to watch him leave, we love watching his excitement and faith work in so many ways-which makes it easier for us.

I have listened to his stories and have envied his travels for a long time. Every time he comes home from one of his trips his faith grows even more and his dedication multiplies by the hundreds. After several years of hearing his stories he helped introduce a new family mission to HeroMakers and this past summer the girls and I (along with 7 other individuals) took our first family trip to Reynosa. My eyes swell when I think about the orphanages we visited...I had no idea the kind of impact my husband had on so many beautiful children. This was an eye-opening, emotional, loving, fun (whatever adjective you want to throw in) experience of my life. Its one thing to hear about hunger, and its another to see it. Its one thing to hear about children who dont have parents, and its another to hold them in your arms.
The pictures below are from a colonia we visited where houses were made of cardboard and sticks-families were hungry and thankful for the food we were giving them.

After watching my friend Jason Domingues work a Boudoir session, I immediately had passion for the creativity. There is nothing sexier than boudoir-and i cant wait until I get to do my own session.....BUT until then, my first AHP boudoir session is a little over a week away!

I can NOT begin to tell you how excited I am. I have booked two hotel rooms-both exclusive and downtown to the session-and ten (YES TEN) women have signed up to do the shoot. I had such an overwhelming response-I finally had to say enuff at TEN.

I will more than likely do another session this summer sometime (wow that was a lot of s's...) anyway, if you missed out this time around be looking for an email around July.....this is going to be HOT. Images coming soon. :)

So....im the worst blogger in the world-that goes without saying...because I've been meaning to post pictures of our Taos trip now for several weeks....if you ever get the chance to go to taos-you HAVE to go...and if you go you HAVE to stay at the El Monte Sagrado Living Spa Resort. OMG-the most amazing place in the world!! I was surprised when Jarrod surprised me with a trip to Taos, but even more excited when I learned I was staying in a little resort that I called "HEAVEN" the entire trip. My husband knows me so well. :) Our room was absolutely amazing-AND the resort was too awesome for words. I cant wait to go back. If you know me well, you know that I love massages, I love being in tranquility (thats my favorite word) and I love feeling relaxed and at peace..in a nutshell this is Taos!

I find this even hard to believe...but I really didnt take many pics while I was there....a few of this and that-but the pics that i did take have special meaning to us...here are a few pics of the El Monte Sagrado...and a few more pics of an old truck (which again-I have a huge fascination with old trucks) and an indian tp (is that how you spell it??)

Linda and Travis Wedding Day

I met Linda and Travis a few months back when I shot their engagement session and I instatnly fell in love with them. They are truly in love with one another and have so much passion and respect for each other. I was so happy that God put these two together.

Driving to Linda's hotel on her wedding day -I KNEW she was going to look amazing and the minute I walked into her room, I was so right...she looked absolutely breath-taking. The one moment of the day that I anticipated more than anything was going to be the look on Travis's face the minute he saw Linda....and let me just tell ya...it was magical. Linda-I love ya girl...you are more to me than just a girl who called me out of the blue and asked me to take your pictures-you are my friend....and i just love you to pieces.

Linda and Travis got married at the Third Eye Event space near the Freight House area and let me tell ya-this is one heckofa cool place to get married!!! I really REALLY love this place. Everyone did such a fantastic job getting everything set up and in place-the wedding could not have been more beautiful. The room was full of candles and very romantic...it was just an amazing night and I was so happy to be part of it.

i was so stoked to get a phone call from rachelle telling me that her daughter ashlyn found my website and that they were driving up from the oklahoma/kansas border for her senior photo-shoot. i had no idea what to expect but when i first noticed ashlyn i just KNEW we were going to rock some pictures today! :) as you can tell-ashlyn is not shy in front of the camera and obviously the camera loved her! she is probably one of the coolest cats i've ever met and i just love her edgy style and her personality.

Let me just say that I was the HAPPIEST girl in the entire world when Jason Domingues-probably the best photographer I could ever know asked if he could take our family pics for a "Pay it Forward" project. I was so excited that I almost...no...i did start crying!!! Jason and his wife Alison have been so kind to me and i am so very blessed to know them and call them my friends. Out of all the photographers in the world to meet I seriously wanted to meet and get to know Jason and Alison. Jason's work is truly amazing and so very authentic and creative. I love his ideas and the way he truly makes pictures into art. I owe so much of what I've learned so far to Jason-he's the first person i met in this industry that strives to share his knowledge and loves to watch people succeed. Im so blessed to know Jason and Alison and I cant wait to see what the future holds for our families. Below are a few pics of the family and our "favorite things" that we just cant live without.

This is a picture of a house down the road from ours and it has always reminded me of Halloween. When Lexie was a little girl we would drive by this house and she'd start screaming and hiding her face with her hands....and now she's almost 16 and she still does the same thing. ha ha.

Anway, today I decided with the clouds being so funky looking and the weather feeling close like Halloween I'd hurry and jump in my car and take this quick pic. I hope you like it.

Tommy and Shannon's wedding

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Tommy and Shannon. Sometimes you can just look at people and say "yeah their in love"...and other times you can look at people like Tommy and Shannon and say "they are immensely in love with each other". They look at each with such passion and love-I swear I was taking their pictures and I was almost crying! When I first met Tommy and Shannon I was so drawn to them....and now I can call them my "friends".

I love watching the entire wedding day take place...we started out at Blo Salon in Westport where Scarlette (oh my gosh i love Scarlette) did Shannons makeup and Joe did Shannons hair. Yes...Im a makeup FREAK...so of course there are pics of makeup on the blog. I cant help it...i love color. Shannon is beautiful to begin with...but watching the transformation was just outstandingly fun. :)

i love this pic of Scarlette concentrating..... It was a rainy wedding day at Powell Gardens so we didnt get to do pictures outside....and with time constraints etc we did a lot of pictures of Shannon (ha) of course I got several of Tommy too...but does anyone look at the groom when you got such a beautiful bride? ha. Shannon looked Uh-Mazing in her dress. I swear-one of the most beautiful brides I have ever seen!

Meet my girlfriend and NEW and UPCOMING author Stephanie Morrill. I had such an awesome time taking Stephanie's pictures for her new book Me, Just Different hitting shelves in July.
Make sure you take a trip to your local book store (Borders etc) and pick up a copy next summer. I am SO EXCITED for Stephanies first book-but it doesnt just stop there....she has a three book series for young adult readers called (The Reinvention of Skylar Hoyt) and two more books that will hit the shelves in October 09 Out With the In Crowd and So Over It that will be out in February of 2010.

I had the great opportunity to meet one of my new favorite seniors...Taylor! As you can tell from the pictures she is gorg. :) We had so much fun hitting a local walking trail close to her house then we decided to tear it up a bit in the bottoms to get some grungy stuff. I had the awesome pleasure of meeting Miss Michaela (aka Miss Softball Scholarship Michaela)!! Uh huh...you dont wanna mess with this girl!
We had such a fun time going down to the bottoms and hanging out. She is so pretty and so fun to be around-I instantly liked her mom and sister Alex within the first five minutes of meeting them.
Its been a long time since I've heard the name Michaela. My beautiful niece was named MaKayla-and we miss her so much each and every day. Its a beautiful thing to hear the name and to smile knowing I made a new friend with the one name that is so dear to me.

So.....meet one of the cutest couples that I've ever met...."Whitney and Brian"...and let me just tell ya five minutes around these two lovebirds and your looking around to hug someone! They are THAT IN LOVE. They have SUCH a cool, romantic, sweet...and one of those indulging stories that you read about in a book. You know....one of those books where your so caught up in the love story that its almost not even real and the guy on the front cover looks like Fabio-but airbrushed really REALLY good. Prepare yourself because this story is going to make you say "ahhhh" just like it did mine.

Okay so....one boy and one girl wake up one morning in separate states, separate cities, living separate lives...board a plane to Cabo...yeah CABO....like CABO SAN LUCAS not really expecting much but a good time, good weather, an awesome beach etc etc...and what happens...uh huh....you got it friends....cupid fired his arrow and the rest is history. Here's two crazy kids on a fun filled trip not knowing they were set out to find each other-not knowing they were going to fall in love-not knowing they would be talking about the rest of their lives together. I know, I know...it makes me wanna cry to. It's okay. You can cry-I dang near did. Okay, so Im talking like I was there but Im honestly telling the story just like they told it to me...with a little mix-in like they do on the Geico commercials.

I just love these two! Their story is so touching, so inspiring so sureal that it makes you believe in fate and destiny and all that cool stuff you sprinkle pixy dust on to make come true. I am soooo happy these two found each other and so happy that Brian transferred to KC to be with Whitney which whom he is now happily engaged to....and yeah you guessed it...their getting married in no place other than Cabo San Lucas. Everyone now....."ahhhhhh".

And one more thing...yeah these two ARE really this cute....photoshop goes a long way but let e tell ya..I was up front and personal with these two and YES Brian is just as dreamy as he looks in the pics and Whitney well...what can I say...shes strikingly pretty. It's girlfriend day!! Yeah Yeah!!!

So....me and a few of my girlfriends decided that every year we would take a girlfriend picture. (thank you Jarrod Hoskins photographer)-ha. You know...one of those memories you look back on in 50 years and say "ya know...I WAS pretty and Lord look how skinny I was". haha So...we scheduled the picture a month in advance so everyone who worked could take off, everyone who had KU plans could be there blah blah blah etc etc etc...All in good planning! Well the day we took the picture had to be the windiest day in HISTORY!!! I think the winds were clocked at 51mph!

Even with the wind blowing through our hair the pics turned out pretty good and we had a great time. Thank you girls-I love ya so much! We missed you Jeri Sunshine. Big Kiss. ~ah

Uhm....has it really been that long since I blogged? Wow I am soooo not a good blogger. I told my photographer friends that I wouldnt be good at this...now look at me....its been forever since I blogged. Sorry friends. I know, I know....i keep getting emails from people wanting to know whats going on in the world of Amy and well....way too much that's why I havent blogged! :)
I've had several photoshoots that's keeping me busier than ever! I cant wait to post all my work.

I've had so much going on the last couple of months I really cant get it all in under one blog....probably the biggest news I have is that I left my full time job of ten years, plus two years of contracting work, at Sprint. I cant believe it either!! ha ha I had an opportunity to take a Voluntary Severance Package so...yep I did it. Honestly, I didnt even give it much thought-the company offered the package and well...I took it. I talked it over with Jarrod for roughly three minutes and submitted my separation...so VERY unlike me not to dissect it 180 degrees, sit on it for a year and then decide. haha. What can I say Im a planner! Thank you Jarrod for giving me the boost I needed! Im so very happy with my decision and this is allowing me to stay on top of things a little better in my photography world. Plus, I have some really cool stuff in the hopper with some old friends that Im going to be diving into (work wise) so Im absolutely thrilled with whats around the corner for me!

What else What else....

Oh...I surprised Jarrod not too long ago with a plane ticket to New Mexico to go skiing with his cuz'n Jud. Since he always puts on a smile with all of us girls in Colorado every year skiing I thought it would be good for him to have some "guy time". And...it allowed me to get caught up on some girlfriend time. Yeah you know who you are. Yep Yep.

The girls are doing great-driving us crazy as usual but in a good way. We are planning a trip to Chicago this summer because Emme is wanting to check out the Chicago Art Institute-she is an amazing artist and I know she is going to fall in love with my home away from home-CHICAGO! She is so anxious to go-the city is going to love her free spirit. Lexie is looking at colleges in Nashville-she is really wanting to go to Belmont and I hope she makes it there. She is a great singer and wants to play her banjo there. We have so much faith in her. We feel way too young to have girls talking "college stuff". UH!!! :) And then Marin...well Marin is just excited to get out of grade school and hang out at the pool this summer. Boys are still gross-which daddy loves. haha

So much else but so little time to type it all down. KU's on...so gotta run.

hello hello....jarrod and i (and girls) finally made it back from our Colorado ski trip.. we were actually home a day early because of all the snow and 80mph winds....yes i typed that out correctly....80MPH WINDS! we learned our lesson last year when we got stuck in the mountains!!! we had a great time AND nobody got hurt....well....except for me but i'm recovering nicely and trust me soaking up every ounce of attention i can! :)
